INBA Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes TBA (Mexico City)
FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE IMPROVISACIÓN INTERDISCIPLINAR (Antequera, Spain)
This workshop is based on the idea that when we are in movement, in action, our way of thinking is different and it is this distinct manner of thinking that we want to access.
Each day will begin with a warm up that generates curiosity, fluidity and shifting between the air and the floor, incorporating concepts of weight, initiation and intention. This short vigorous sequence will be followed by subject related improvisational tasks and continue with solo or group choreographic studies and feedback.
Although, we will work on movement that increases our flexibility, endurance and strength, this time will not be dedicated to developing a formal technique, but rather on investigating how we move and what choices we make as dancers.
Through guided improvisations we will explore different states of concentration, as well as develop and exhaust these energetic places so to encourage ourselves to go beyond patterns of comfort and habit. Using imagination as a tool for creation, recovery and analysis, we will study how we suspend and transform an image into a movement score, a design for expanding skills of performance, listening and relationship.
This workshop is open to dancers and actors with good movement experience who enjoy being physical and taking creative risks.
